Animated Logo

I’ve been designing a suite of projects for west coast company Overinteractive Media Inc. They are launching a gaming/video/social networking site entitled dimeRocker. We started with branding for both the company and the site, utilizing the touchstones of vibrant colour, convergence, movement and youth, with nods to both retro and futurism.

Photography in Brick Literary Journal

gnawed-time

These photos were published in the winter edition of Brick, a Literary Journal. Brick is a fantastic read, and this isssue has an interview from one of my favorite film directors, Werner Herzog. The photos are from a series of 120 photos which will accompany a new record entitled Healthy Distance, coming out this year. They come from my cycling reconnaissance of the local 100 kilometer radius. I was preyed upon by multiple farm dogs and strange weather patterns, so these are almost like war photos to me. Expect news soon on the Healthy Distance project.

Website Design: The Man Game

man-game-site-crop.jpg

Had the pleasure of designing a site for Penguin Publishing and it’s release of Lee Henderson’s novel The Man Game. Lee also wrote the fantastic collection of stories The Broken Record Technique. We built the site so Lee could update it with news, stories and inspiration while documenting the release of his first novel. It is an ode to rescued documents, Vaudeville era graphics and undiscovered sports.

Collected Works of Progress

front-page-art.jpg

Aesthetic is rooted in both science and art, a heady alchemy of beauty and emotion, form and content, history and future. My career and craft have been dedicated to amplifying the present with visual and aural aesthetics, widening the spectrums of colour and light, giving life to the static with tension and space, and the unearthing of instinctual truths that make good designs great.

Here at knowoffhand.com, you will find the many interconnected pursuits and choices that have lead these paths to cross and combine. You can explore galleries of my work in Photography, Illustration, Film and Concert Posters, Design, Video and Motion Graphics, Audio and Scoring, all found within the Portfolios section.

I would also like to present the Chroma Series blog, which will be home to varied creative explorations, photo essays, news reports and other featured examples of learning by doing, the movement of mind and hand.
